4 Tips to Enjoy the Nightlife in Mombasa
The nightlife in Mombasa, Kenya is amazing. If you are traveling with small children you’ll need to make other arrangements if you plan on heading into Old Town or the main part of downtown Mombasa to enjoy the nightlife, but for adults who are only traveling with other adults or alone, it can be a great way to boost your vacation time.
Here are four tips that can help you maximize your enjoyment of nightlife when visiting Mombasa.
Tip #1: Let somebody know where you’re going.
Even if you’re traveling alone check in with the hotel front desk or, if you made new friends already while you’re here, let them know you’re planning on going to a certain club or restaurant. You may also want to let people back home know so if they don’t hear from you somebody will be looking for you.
Tip #2: Get an idea of which places you want to visit before you head out.
Wondering around at night in any city, regardless of whether it is Mombasa or New York City, is not the best idea. You can take a turn and get lost. You could end up in the wrong part of town and have difficulty finding your way back.
Tip #3: Rely on public transportation.
Using the taxis in Mombasa is the best way to get around. If you rented a car from the airport, you should avoid the temptation of driving yourself. Not only is it far too easy to get lost during the day, nighttime is even more challenging driving around the streets of Mombasa.
Tip #4: Know your limits.
If you’re consuming alcoholic beverages when out on the town in Mombasa at night, avoid getting inebriated. You’re in a foreign city, don’t know the locals or the layout of the land, and you don’t know the customs.
Staying sober is the best way to have a great time in Mombasa. This doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a drink or two, but know your limits and keep from approaching them, let alone exceeding them.
